Knowing Your Worth as an Artist and/or Solo Entrepreneur

This month, I found it tough to sit down and write — or even think about writing — a blog post. Between working on set with production teams and looking after my private clients, my days have been non-stop. But this topic? It's one that deserves to be said, even if briefly.

I don’t mind the long hours or bouncing between spaces. Why? Because I pay myself well, and I believe that’s not just important — it’s necessary.

Let’s be honest: you don’t do this only because you love it. Yes, the passion is there. But so is the need for financial sustainability. You deserve to be well-compensated for the talent, experience, and effort you bring to the table.

Know What It Costs to Be You

One of the first things I tell new artists and solo entrepreneurs is this:
👉 Figure out how much it costs to live your life — your actual life.

Some people need €20,000 a month to support their lifestyle. Some need €2,000. Others may need less. The key is to understand your number — not your friend’s, not someone on Instagram’s, not that random person’s in your industry.

Price Based on YOU — Not Them

Please don’t base your pricing on what others are doing. Just because someone down the street charges less doesn’t mean you should. You don’t know what their products are, how long they’ve trained, or what their bills look like.

Instead, base your prices on:

  • Your experience

  • The quality of your products

  • Your location & market

  • DON’T FORGET TAXES | (and stay on top of them and book-keep properly!)

  • And most importantly — your value

If you start too low, it will take so much longer to raise your prices later. And trust me, it’ll be uncomfortable.

You Are the Vibe

I use premium vegan nail products on all my clients here in Palma de Mallorca! I have years of experience, and I share real education with every client who sits in my chair; everyone leaves empowered & informed. I don’t just do nails — I create a vibe. An experience. It’s natural to me because it’s authentic.

✨ Be real. Be true. Be you.
✨ Don’t be afraid to charge your worth.
✨ The right clients will find you — and stay. YOU ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE! Remember this! I don’t care that not everyone can afford me; not to be rude but it’s not my problem. There is something for everyone. You aren’t here to please everyone!

✨ Don’t be afraid to have boundaries, and stick to them! For example, cancellation fees. They are there for a reason! My time is expensive and if someone can’t make it last minute, that isn’t on me. Don’t be afraid to stay firm on this. Don’t have a booking system like mine, who charges their credit card? Take a deposit beforehand. I have been running my business for almost 10 years; this is not some 15 year olds lemonade stand or passion project! I am here running a business and don’t have patience for time-wasters!:)

A Little Love to Close With

If you’re an artist, creative, or entrepreneur figuring this out — I see you. I’ve been there. Keep going, keep refining, and most of all… keep charging your worth.
