Turning a lifelong passion into a business is something I never thought I could do; then in 2016 I moved back to Canada, and decided it would be a great idea to enroll in school again. So in 2017, I cut back on my teaching hours, and went to eV Nails in New Westminster(just outside Vancouver), and became a certified Nail Technician. Soon after, I started my own mobile nail business in Whistler. Then at the end of 2018 I went to Body Pro Beauty & Aesthetics Inc, located in Brampton, Ontario, and received a certificate in 3D Nail Design. I ran my nail salon in Toronto for a year and a half, and then moved back to BC, and opened up shop in a beautiful mountain town called Squamish. I ran my private nail studio in Squamish for 2 years and then I decided it was time to move back to Spain…not Madrid this time, but to the magical Spanish island Palma de Mallorca. And this is where I have been able to start shifting myself professionally, into the world of session styling. I am officially a Session Manicurist, which means I do nails for TV, film, and the fashion industry. So if I am not in my studio spaces creating beautiful nails on private clients, then you’ll find me on a production set doing nails:)

I only purchase luxury nail products that are vegan and of the highest quality. This is an experience, not just a nail appointment. I am not an ‘in-and-out’ shop!

I have been doing nails for 15 years now, so friends asked why I thought I needed to obtain credentials. I love studying and educating myself(I have a BA in the Classics; The Study of Ancient Art & Archaeology), and I believe there is always more knowledge to obtain, and credentials speak volumes.

What does Ahyoka mean?

Ahyoka means…she brought happiness. Ahyoka is an old Cherokee(Native American) name. Ahyoka was the daughter of Sequoyah, the man who created a written Cherokee language in the early 1800’s. So Ahyoka is not my name; it’s Ashante!

Just like Ahyoka, I intend to bring you happiness, and that is one of my goals as a Nail Tech/ Nail Artist; to give you custom nails that suit your needs, and make you smile from ear to ear…with your health & safety always being a priority. I love creating beautiful nail art that tells a story; and that story is a combination of my creativity and skills.

When you walk into my nail studio, any stresses you may have will fade away, as I strive to create a very relaxing environment. I am the type of artist whose creative juices flow best in a zen atmosphere; lighting, scent, and sound all play a key role in this.
